Girlfriend and I are gonna go camping in Big Sur after New Years. We were looking at Limekiln State Park, but they don't have any sites available for the Thursday and Friday after New Years (Jan 1st and 2nd). Any recommendations? Hopefully somewhere we can make reservations so we don't have to worry about not finding a site. Also looking for good hiking close-by. Thanks!

I can recommend Pfeiffer States Park, for hiking and the beach for sure. Also check out Garrapata State Park.
As for camp spots the state parks fill up months in advance. If you are traveling light you could try Andrew Molera, it's first come first serve if I remember. Otherwise call the privately owned ones, like Fernwood or Riverside. That may be your best option. I live in Monterey so I have not camped down there since college days but still make day trips often. Ventana and Bug Sur River Inn are good spots of you are looking for a restaurant.

It isn't in Big Sur, but Nacimiento Road is not too far away and is awesome for camping (and to drive on). It is dispersed camping with tons of sites, and since it is in Los Padres NF, all you need to camp is an Adventure Pass or the like.

Pfeiffer looked nice (huge campsite, I think it said there were like 170 sites available). A buddy suggested Andrew Molera. I think we might end up doing Limekiln the following weekend. There's plenty of open spots the following weekend, so that might be easiest.
Also, this is very much in the running. Maybe for a warmer weekend though.
